Welcome Back!!! I am very excited to be cruising the halls with each of you and learning right along with you! Hopefully, we never stop learning. There is a purpose for math beyond a classroom. Learning math skills is important, beyond that, I want my students to better understand and describe the world around them. Real life application is all around us in every form of mathematics. You can use equations to write projections for a business, like profit and losses. Going to the mall for example, you can see how the percent of increase or decrease is applied to retail shopping.
Mathematics has been described as art motivated by beauty. Mathematics can be recognized in arts such as dance, music, painting, sculpture and more. Math and art have a long historical relationship. Concepts like calculus, theory and logic are visually illustrated and diagrammed in educational textbooks, just to name a few.
I am thrilled to be entering the art world this year with your children. I hope to give them some further knowledge in hands on experiences and also some digital practice in design and patterns.
